One of the common tactics for insurance companies is to, question the people that get into an accident right away. And they record you and they pretend like they’re your friend and they’re trying to be there for you when you get into an accident. And they sound very sweet and nice on the phone, but let me explain something to you. They’re not your friend. They’re not trying to help you. They’re trying to gather information. Just like in Law and Order, anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. And they will take that recorded statement and it can get used against you and it can be detrimental to your case. You don’t want to have the insurance company have more than one stab at the apple. You don’t want them questioning you more than once. Because what they what they do and they’re very good at it, they hire people that are very trained at this, is they try and find little nuances, little differences in your version of events. You know, when you get questioned the day after an accident, you might say, I was stopped for 10 seconds. And then at your deposition, 4 years later or 2 years later, you might say, I was stopped for 20 seconds. And then they’re like, well, which one is it? 10 or 20? Right? The truth is is that you just don’t remember it as clearly 2 years later, but they’re trying to paint you out as a liar when you’re not. So that is one of the big pitfalls you got to be very careful of. And it’s one of the things that we instruct our clients on right after they tell us that they’ve been involved in an accident is don’t speak to anyone from any insurance company, even your own insurance company without us being present and without us being there and telling you that it’s okay.
